From Sept 5th-6th, the Geo-information Technology Forum 2006 of Chinese Academy of Sciences (GIT Forum 2006 of CAS) was successfully held in Beijing, PRC. About 2000 participants from all over the country participated in this annual Geo-information Technology forum. Some foreign guests from Japan and Sweden participated in this event, too.

As one of the main organizer, SuperMap Technologies Inc., together with about 20 SuperMap Solution Partners exhibited and introduced the newest SuperMap technologies, products, solutions and applications during the forum. Dr. Zhong Ershun, president of SuperMap gave a warm welcome speech and concluded the way of SuperMap innovation on the opening ceremony. And Dr. Song Guanfu, the CEO of SuperMap made a keynote speech, introducing the progress SuperMap have made and the next step plan. He concluded that during 2005-2006, SuperMap had announced the latest version of SuperMap GIS 5.2, among the most important new features are the high concurrent ability of the internet GIS web server--- SuperMap-IS .NET Enterprise version, as well as the Ajax SDK added in that version. With these two new features, SuperMap-IS .NET increases its market share in China and Japan very rapidly. He also noted that the company has successfully launched a series of new products based on its new architecture --- Universal GIS, which is based on a Universal (standard c++) GIS Core (UGC) and has strong cross platform ability. The new products include SuperMap Objects Java, SuperMap-IS Java and SuperMap Objects .NET.
The forum has aroused a wide range of attention from many media, including CCTV, SOHU, Xinhua NET, Science and Technology Daily, etc.
