Experts Dialogue: AI Agents and Deepening Industry Applications

In a dedicated "Experts Dialogue" session, university professors, corporate experts, executives, and government representatives engaged in lively discussions on the application scenarios of AI agents in projects such as natural resource management, geospatial information integration ("One-Net Fusion"), and smart planning.

AI Agents Reshape GIS Application Paradigms, New Products Herald a Fresh Chapter

At the conference, the SuperMap GIS 2025 product series was officially launched, showcasing advancements in six key technical systems:

- Big Data GIS

- Next-Gen Remote Sensing Software

- Next-Gen 3D GIS

- Geospatial AI

- Distributed GIS

- Cross-Platform GIS

Two new products were introduced:

- SuperMap AgentX Server (a geospatial agent service platform)

- SuperMap TransformX (spatial data conversion and processing software)

SuperMap GIS 2025 Release

SuperMap first previewed its spatial agent technology in 2024. As 2025 is hailed as the "Year of the AI Agent," the progress of SuperMap's geospatial AI agents has drawn significant attention. The release of SuperMap AgentX Server (beta) marks the evolution of GIS software from traditional tools to intelligent agents.

Geospatial AI agents can be categorized into three levels based on autonomy and planning capabilities:

1. Q&A Knowledge Agents

2. Workflow-Based Agents

3. Autonomous Planning Agents

These agents demonstrate strong application value in scenarios such as government services, intelligent mapping, 2D/3D modeling, data processing, remote sensing monitoring, and water conservancy simulation. SuperMap AgentX Server integrates all three agent types, enabling complex GIS tasks through human-AI dialogue, including intent understanding, logical reasoning, task planning, and decision execution. It also allows users to customize industry-specific agent solutions.

Additionally, multiple SuperMap products now feature AI assistants powered by geospatial AI agents, enabling intelligent mapping, automated data conversion, and modeling. Over the next three to five years, more mature geospatial AI agents are expected to revolutionize GIS platforms, ushering in a new paradigm of natural interaction, autonomous reasoning, and automated execution.

Beyond geospatial AI, SuperMap GIS 2025 has achieved breakthroughs in 3D modeling, remote sensing, cloud-native architecture, cross-platform compatibility, and system security.

Government-Industry-Academia Collaboration Builds an Intelligent Ecosystem, Unlocking New Opportunities

The conference saw the launch of the "Geospatial Intelligence Innovation Unity and Joint Innovation Center." This alliance brings together forces from Alibaba Cloud’s Tongyi large model, the Ministry of Natural Resources' Information Center, SuperMap, and other government agencies, research institutions, universities, and enterprises, forming a collaborative innovation ecosystem.

The unity will focus on R&D and application promotion of AI GIS technologies, covering core areas such as:

- Large AI models

- Spatial databases

- General databases

- Foundational computing infrastructure

By leveraging collective strengths, it aims to provide intelligent, high-efficiency solutions for key sectors like natural resources, water management, and emergency response, driving the broader adoption of geospatial intelligence technologies.

GIS International Forum: Technological Breakthroughs and Global Collaboration

On June 25, 19 parallel sessions were held, including the GIS International Forum co-hosted by International Cartographic Association (ICA) Education and Training Committee, Zhongguancun Chaoyang Park, Saudi Geographical Society, UN Global Knowledge and Innovation Centre. Centering on "Technological Breakthroughs and Global Collaboration," it gathered around 100 guests from 20 countries across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Speakers from China, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia discussed advancements in GIS technology, software products, and AI-powered GIS applications in remote sensing, agriculture, housing, urban planning, and cadastral management

The forum also witnessed a signing ceremony for SuperMap and 13 Store Co., Ltd, a Thailand company. As the largest DJI drone agent in Thailand, 13 Store boast unique advantages and will become SuperMap’s exclusive distributor in the Year 2025 in Thailand.

Mahasarakham University, a university that has partnered with SuperMap renewed the MoU with SuperMap at the forum as well. The two parties will further deepen cooperation on GIS education and GIS technology development and application.
