According to the news from SuperMap Japan Co., Ltd., the service system for downloading orthography publicly is startup which is structured by adopting SuperMap IS .NET by the Japanese Planning Bureau of Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport.
In order to promote GIS popularization, Japanese government orthographic and overlay the Japanese national aerophoto on 1/25000 of the vector topographic maps in recent years and disseminated for public on Internet through that system. Japanese people can browse, search and download the aerophoto with geographic information through Internet freely.
At present, the system is at the stage of testing. The system will be perfected further after soliciting the suggestion publicly and continuously updated the data. Purportedly, this is another succeed case by using SuperMap IS to release mass data (in TB class) following the case of JR GIS.
With the demand of WebGIS and wide area GIS increasing, SuperMap IS is widely used in private website of Japanese state enterprise. SuperMap has already got the extensive approval of Japan’s industry.
