From June 3 to 8 of 2002, the Eighth Conference of Inter-Government Consulting Committee of Spatial Application Facilitating Sustainable Development in Asia-Pacific Area organized by ESCAP, the Seventh Conference of Weather Satellite & Natural Disaster Monitoring Area Working Group (Weather Satellite Working Group) as well as Remote Sensing Disaster Management International Seminar was hold in Beijing New Century Hotel.
The theme of this conference focused on how to use spatial remote sensing technique to facilitate disaster management further in Asia and Pacific regions as well as its membership nations. Nearly 60 experts and government representatives from abroad participated this conference. The leaders and well-known experts from State Science & Technique Ministry and relevant ministries attended this conference.
In order to advertise 3S software products developed by domestic companies and enable domestic software to enter international market, State Science & Technique Ministry appointed SuperMap GIS Technologies, Inc., Remote Sensing Engineering Center affiliated to Survey & Mapping Academy, as well as Beijing Lingtu Software Co., Ltd. to demonstrate their own 3S software products. President B.J. Mark of China Information Technology Industry Co., Ltd. on behalf of SuperMap GIS Technologies, Inc. introduced SuperMap series software and its application in Asia & Pacific areas. SuperMap GIS Technologies, Inc. and Beijing Lingtu Software Co., Ltd. gave 3S software developed by each of them to the representatives of membership nations.
