On October 8, SuperMap, in collaboration with MapSoft, a leading geomatic information company in Serbia, hosted a seminar in Belgrade, Serbia's capital. The event, themed "Innovative Geographic Information Technology Empowering Asset Management," marked the second stop of SuperMap's 2024 overseas tour and its first showcase in Europe.
The seminar attracted over 160 professionals from various national and educational institutions, including the Serbian National Forest Administration, the National Facilities Management Agency, the National Inland River Administration, the University of Belgrade, and urban planning departments from key Serbian cities such as Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Niš.
Opening Remarks: Strengthening China-Serbia Collaboration
The seminar began with opening remarks from Wang Haitao, Vice President of SuperMap and President of SuperMap International, and Željko Cvijetinović, co-founder of MapSoft.
Wang Haitao emphasized that the development of smart cities is a significant challenge and opportunity for governments and businesses worldwide. He expressed SuperMap's eagerness to deepen collaboration with MapSoft, other Serbian companies, government entities, and research institutions to explore new technological developments and applications. He highlighted the potential to boost smart city development in Serbia and across Southeast Europe, which will elevate China-Serbia cooperation to new heights.
Željko Cvijetinović stressed MapSoft’s commitment to applying geospatial technology in urban planning and resource management. He stated that the partnership with SuperMap would further enhance GIS applications in Serbia and Southeast Europe, providing efficient solutions for smart cities and transportation management. He noted that Serbia has immense potential for adopting GIS technology, with promising opportunities for collaboration in resource management and smart city initiatives.
Technology Reports: Advancing Smart Cities with AI and CIM Platforms
Yu Zongwen from SuperMap International’s European and African Center presented an overview of SuperMap, its GIS software products, technology ecosystem, and solutions.
Hu Chenpu, General Manager of SuperMap's International Platform Solutions Team, delivered a presentation titled "Building Spatial AI Big Models and Innovating Spatial Intelligent Software Technology." He discussed SuperMap’s advancements in applying AI big models to geospatial data processing, which have significantly enhanced the accuracy and efficiency of remote sensing analysis. These innovations are paving the way for intelligent applications in asset management, smart cities, and environmental monitoring.
Yuan Zixiang, SuperMap’s senior technical engineer introduced the "SuperMap CIM Platform Empowers Smart City Management." He detailed the platform's core functions, including City Information Model (CIM) construction, integration of technologies like BIM, GIS, IoT, and AI, and its applications in smart city projects worldwide. The CIM platform provides comprehensive management services from urban planning and construction to operation, leading to improved urban management, optimized resource allocation, and enhanced quality of life for residents.
MapSoft’s Insight into Intelligent Transportation Solutions
As a key partner in Serbia, MapSoft demonstrated a deep understanding of SuperMap’s technology. Milos Vojinovic, MapSoft co-founder, presented the "SuperMap Intelligent Transportation Digital Twin Platform Solution." He discussed the role of digital twin technology in enhancing intelligent transportation management, showcasing successful implementation examples. Experts praised the solution, recognizing its potential to transform urban transportation systems in Serbia.
Serbian professionals expressed strong interest in SuperMap’s full-stack GIS product system, notably its BRT-IDC technology, which covers the entire lifecycle of data collection, storage, processing, analysis, and visualization, providing a robust foundation for building large-scale spatial models.
Looking Ahead: Innovating Toward an Intelligent Future
This workshop by SuperMap and MapSoft marks a significant milestone in their ongoing partnership and serves as a bridge for China-Serbia collaboration in geographic information technology. As Serbia continues to advance in smart city development, traffic management, and resource management, the demand for innovative GIS technology grows. SuperMap aims to bring state-of-the-art solutions to Serbia and Southeast Europe, driving technological innovation and strengthening the local GIS industry.
