On June 29, the closing ceremony of the 6th International Workshop on GIS Technology and Application (hereinafter referred to as "the workshop") was held, declaring the successful conclusion of the 5-day workshop. A total of 40 people from the geographic information industry and related fields in 11 countries participated in this workshop, including teachers and students from colleges and universities, executives and technical personnel of related geographic information companies.
On the opening day of the workshop on June 25, Ma Zhiyong, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Society for Geodesy Photogrammetry and Cartography, delivered an opening speech. He extended a warm welcome to the trainees who participated in the workshop, and hoped that they could seize the opportunity, actively communicate and discuss with each other, maximize the value of the workshop, and bring what they would learn from the workshop back to their own countries to serve local industry development. Wang Haitao, vice president of SuperMap Software Group and president of SuperMap International, delivered a welcome speech to the students as well.

The lecturers of this workshop introduced the latest solutions in the GIS industry which use 3D GIS, remote sensing, geographic information visualization and other technologies, as well as the application of GIS in smart cities, natural resource management, transportation, etc. Wang Tao, professor of the Capital Normal University, chair of the ICA Commission on Education and Training, and Dang Anrong, professor of the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University, respectively gave a speech titled "Geographic Visualization: Connecting Nature and Humans " and "China's Smart City Development Process and Trends".

On June 27-28, the trainees participated in the 2023 Geographic Information Software Technology Conference (GISTC 2023). At the plenary conference on June 27 and the international forum on June 28, they listened to reports from Chinese government leaders, Chinese and foreign experts and professors, and executives from several companies. By joining in the conference, the trainees learned more about the development trends of the geographic information industry. On June 29, led by the SuperMap International team, the participants visited the SuperMap exhibition hall, and listened to the introduction of the development history of SuperMap and the development of SuperMap International. At the graduation ceremony, Ma Zhiyong, deputy secretary-general of Chinese Society for Geodesy Photogrammetry and Cartography, delivered a concluding speech and issued certificates of completion to the trainees one by one.
During the exchange session, the trainees introduced their companies and shared their experience and feelings of participating in the workshop. They said that the trip to Beijing was fruitful, and they were deeply impressed by the lecturers' reports. They are very grateful to SuperMap for providing this platform and hope that more people will participate in these activities in the future and work together to promote the development of the geographic information industry.
