On 18th, July, GIS Innovation Seminar held by Xinjiang association of Surveying Mapping and Geoinformation, Xinjiang software association, organized by SuperMap Group with the theme of ‘Different GIS, Different Value’ was held in Urumqi. The experts from mapping, land resource, universities have gathered and discussed the matters of cloud computing, BIM, oblique photogrammetry, etc.
Dr. Zhong, chair of the board of SuperMap Group indicates that GIS is at the revolutionary era. Firstly, advanced technologies like big data, cloud computing, mobile internet, AI have influenced the development of GIS, advancing the changes on GIS. Secondly, GIS itself has very powerful engine, like 3D, dynamic simulation and sensor gridding, making GIS more intelligent. Thirdly, more and more application modes have been created, especially in civil/military use, ‘One Road One Belt’ applications, bringing huge energy in GIS.
Currently, spatial big data is facing huge difficulties and it has new requirements for GIS platform. Senior Vice President Dr. Li shared the report ‘Insights on GIS in big data era’. The report introduced the major achievements on big data storage, analysis calculation, infrastructure, etc., providing better analytics tools for users, helping to dig better value on big data.
On the same day, president of SuperMap Group, Dr. Song Guanfu along with Xinjiang Corps Survey and Design Institute. SuperMap signed cooperation strategy with Xinjiang Corps Survey and Design Institute. After signing the strategy, the institute along with SuperMap will have deep cooperation in staff training, technical communication and planning, project advancing, etc.
