Biennial SuperMap GIS Technology Conference was hold successfully again this year. As an outstanding GIS platform provider in China, SuperMap showed the improvement and innovation in GIS products made during the last two years to the public.
SuperMap president Song Guanfu ever said that the company strategy between 2013 and 2020 is that “perfecting the software, innovating in cloud service, leading the market in China, building the international brand”, that is, in a short way, SuperMap will complete two transformations: from China to an international GIS software company; from GIS software to a GIS cloud service company. STC for this year was just prepared to follow the strategy, which can be regarded as the start of the new journey for SupeMap.
SuperMap GIS 7C Released, Cloud Services Landed
The release of SuperMap GIS 7C products marks that SuperMap develops from 2D/3D integration to cloud-terminal integration, accordingly, the letter after the version number changes from R (RealSpace) to C (Cloud).
SuperMap GIS 7C is a “strong cloud and rich terminal” product system. Cloud products include iPortal, iServer, and iExpress. Terminal products include iDesktop, iClient, iMobile, iObjects, and iMapReader.
The three cloud products are called three carriages by Mr. Song: iPortal is cloud service portal platform, rapidly building public and private cloud GIS service sites, also rapidly building geographic information sharing platform; iServer is GIS application server, publishing full-featured GIS services and providing industrial service extension capability; iExpress is cloud service distribution platform, alleviating pressure on the network and improving the end users experiences of accessing the cloud services.
In the terminal products, there is a new and free product-iMapReader, which can be regarded as another try in the internet industry besides SuperMap Dituhui. The users can download the map resources through the built-in map store in iMapReader and browse the maps on iPad. In addition, iMapReader supports 2D/3D integration display, gravity sensor and social networks sharing.
International Partners Invited, International Strategy Accelerated
This is perhaps the first time to invite international partner to speak in the technology conference for SuperMap. Noda company’s founder and CEO Mehmet ERDOGDU from Turkey introduced the development and potential of GIS in Turkey, and shared the projects based on SuperMap GIS products in Turkey. We can see this as a confidence to enter the international market for SuperMap.
According to SuperMap vice president Wang Kanghong, SuperMap software has been applied in more than 100 countries, and the distributors have covered more than 30 countries. Although most of these countries are developing countries like China, they have a huge demand for the geographical information foundation construction. Now, one tenth of the revenue of SuperMap comes directly from international business, in the future, this ratio will be further improved.
For SuperMap, the technology conference has officially opened the transition journey in the next eight years. The road may be bumpy, let’s wish SuperMap a successful future.
