On March, 2011, the 9th SuperMap Collegiate GIS Contest (short for SCGC) launched in Beijing, China. This Contest is held both by The Geographical Society of China and SuperMap Software Co. Ltd., aiming at providing more practical experience for the students and more opportunities for showing their talents, and promoting GIS education and talents training in Colleges and Universities.
The SCGC, found in 2003, is not only the earliest collegiate GIS contest in China, but also one of the highest level GIS contests. So far, eight sessions of SCGC have already successfully held, which cover more than two hundred colleges and universities, with 14,000 plus participants. This contest not only offers a communication platform for the participants, but also improves the cooperative relations between companies and schools.
