Applications of High-perfomance Distributed Map Rendering Technology

10 May,2019

The praised feature of high-performance distributed map rendering technology is that it greatly shortens the time cycle from the data warehousing, data processing to data service publishing. With the technology, most time can be spent on importing data in data publishing process. Here are two applications of distributed map rendering technology.

1. The “Spatio-temporal Big Data Analysis System based on distributed architecture” of Sichuan Basic Geographic Information Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources introduces high-performance distributed rendering technology and builds a spatio-temporal big data analysis system. It effectively solves problems such as slow-speed data storage, analysis, distribution, display and so on. The new distributed architecture has achieved considerable system operating efficiency, like, 24 million earth polygons can be storaged with only 2.5 hours, the coverage of 500-bunch buffer vegetation in the Jinsha River Basin can be extracted within 5 minutes, and the 16 million polygons of vegetation cover layer can be made into map with seconds.

2. In a map service application that provides provincial road conditions, their existing system map service publishes pre-generated grid tiles. However, the road map service requires nearly one million road conditions data to be published every 5 minutes that the system cannot guarantee the timeliness. After adopting the high-performance distributed rendering architecture, the system saves the time to generate map tiles, and the new architecture helps to expand the distributed computing system to further meet the high-efficiency computing requirements such as road condition prediction, road condition deduction, and historical road conditions.
