How to Load 3D Data on Mobile

07 Aug,2018

There are always problems from users about how to load 3D data on mobile. The following parts will introduce how to load 3D data based on SuperMap iMobile through two different methods of online and offline.

Online Loading

Online loading is to load 3D services through iMobile. There is no need to copy the data to the mobile equipment in advance.

Usually, there are 3 steps of the online loading: generate scene cache, publish 3D services and load 3D services.

1.1 Generate Scene Cache

Vector: For the vector data, change the "Altitude Mode" into "Clamp to Ground" and select “S3M” in the “file types” option.

Image: Create image pyramids first and then generate the image cache. We can add SIT format image files directly and then generate the image cache.

Terrain: Select “Tin” as the “cache type”.

Model: Select “OSGB” as the “cache type”. If we load the data on Android equipment, select “Android equipment” in the “cache usage”; if we load the data on IOS equipment, select “IOS equipment” in the “cache usage”. Then, transfer the cache to the S3M format data.

Oblique photogrammetry:Most of the oblique data is in OSGB format. In order to better display the oblique data, we need to do texture compression first, and then transfer the  compressed data to the S3M format.

1.1 Publish 3D Services

Start SuperMap iServer, choose “quick public” and select the data which is generated from the above step. We can preview the 3D service and record the service address and scene name through iServer.

1.2 Load 3D Services

The key codes to load online 3D services are as follows:

Offline Loading

There are also 3 steps for the offline loading: generate scene cache, copy cache to the mobile equipment and load data.

2.1 Generate Scene Cache

Follow the first step of online loading

2.2 Copy Cache to the Mobile Equipment

Copy the workspace and related file data to the mobile equipment. Please make sure that the catalog of the mobile is accessible.

2.3 Load Data

Load the scene cache after opening the scene cache workspace.

SuperMap iMobile can not only support multi source data loading, such as oblique, BIM, point cloud and fine model data, but also can support three dimensional computation, layer management, flight browsing, node animation, hypsometric tint, water surface and particle effects.
