Smart Zhengzhou: Spatio-temporal Information Platform Innovation Driven By Big Data

Smart city is to monitor, analyze, integrate key information of city operation core system through information and telecommunication technologies, which can create intelligent response to civil, environmental protection, public security, city service, industrial & commercial activities. Smart city uses advanced information technologies to realize city smart management and operation, which brings better life for city citizens, advancing the harmonious and sustainable development for the city.

Zhengzhou, as a pilot city for smart city construction, is creating a controllable and innovative spatio-temporal big data service paradigm. Zhengzhou 3D geo-information and application service system developed by Zhengzhou University, SuperMap Software and Zhengzhou digitalization office is now online.

Digital Zhengzhou 3D geo-information and application system is an important infrastructure of Smart Zhengzhou, which will bring foundation to transform digital city geo-information infrastructure into spatio-temporal cloud platform. 

Realize detailed management of ‘house on map, people in house’

Zhengzhou 3D geo-information and application system set an integration smart city construction management mode which include research, development and operation (RDO), forming a controllable 3D standard system, providing a long-term effective development mode. Meanwhile, basing on super calculation and cloud calculation, a 2D & 3D integration public service platform has been developed, which solved big amount data and big scale city 2D & 3D data calculation and service problems. 

The system uses dense-matching point cloud, unit layout, indoor 3D modeling, etc. to construct 800 square KM 3D model. When clicking any of the unit, the internal and external detailed information can be displayed, information like how many units and how many children and the old in this building or neighborhood can be known. This 3D platform can also be used for planning and city security,

In a sum, this detailed management can show the linking among population, housing and space, improving 2D & 3D GIS application in indoor & outdoor integration.

Smart City Big Data Operations

The data amount of digital Zhengzhou 3D geo-information and application service system is huge, which reaches 6TB. Basing on unified spatio-temporal baseline, system integrates city 3D model database, underground 3D model database, name address database, underground pipelines data, point cloud data, measurable image data, POI data, video information data and massive, multi spatio-temporal big data, etc., and realizes linking application between 3D model data and 4 city major databases.

The platform puts the core area and stadium area of Zhengzhou into computer by 1:1 scale, so the live situation of Zhengzhou can be seen directly from computer, the monitoring, emergency drilling, emergency management, personnel and vehicle dynamic and real-time locating, buildings visibility controlling, surveillance video capturing. The information can also be sent to the mobile devices of staff, making information transforming seamlessly.

City Brain for Zhengzhou

Spatio-temporal information plays a more and more important role in the city informatization process. The system is based on sharing concept, breaking traditional mode of multi-construction, block tiling, information isolation. The system realized unified collection, construction and update mechanism.

Since the implementation of the program, there is a huge growth socially and economically, which lowers the life-span and difficulties of themed application system construction. In the most geo-information involved projects, the basic geographic data collection and basic service platform occupies 80% of the total investment. However, Zhengzhou basic geographic information data realized unified collection, basing on free sharing. The platform can decrease approximately 500 million for government every year.

In addition, basing on city unified spatio-temporal and sharing exchange sharing platform, ‘One Map’ of the government has been realized, advancing the government big data exchange, sharing, and digging application, improving Zhengzhou smart city construction.
