Q: There are around 200 image datasets with raw data format jpg in the datasource. Sizes of original jpg pictures are between 300K to 8M and the number of images around 8M is no more than 20. However, the total size of these datasets swells to 12.1G after being copied to a sql datasource. Why would this happen?

A: Possible reasons are as follows: (1) The encode type was not specified whiling copying data to the SQL datasource;  (2) Image pyramids have been built while copying data to the SQL datasource and image pyramids take up a lot space.  If so, it is suggested you specify an encode type (compressible datasets), and leave image pyramids not built if not necessary while copying the data.
