State Social Economy Statistics Geographic Information System

Background

Statistics departments are the departments providing decision-making support for macro-regulation. The statistical information gives the general picture of social and economic situations, and it is the basis of government and enterprise management and decision-making. National situation, social, human and economic situation vary in different spatial regions, so does the statistical information. The publication and presentation manner of traditional statistical information are singular, and can not reflect the spatial distribution characteristic and law of social economic phenomena and process, so that the statistical information cannot play its role efficiently in the management and decision-making related to space.

With the development of computer technology such as database technology and GIS technology, the state government is seeking to find the GIS solution to build statistic geographic information to take full advantage of statistical information and serve the government decision-making. National Bureau of Statistics of China chose SuperMap GIS software as GIS solution provider to develop state social economy statistics geographic information system. The Social economy geographic information system of Gansu province is the test in province before applied to other provinces.

Solution

Besides the basic GIS functions such as map browsing and operation, spatial data query and positioning, and statistical data query function etc., this system provides specific functions for statistics industry.

Enterprise spatial objects positioning

The attribute value of certain statistical index can be identified, so that all the corporations or industrial units which satisfies certain criteria based on the statistical index value can be positioned and displayed with specific symbols (for example, asterisk) on the map, and their spatial distributions can be known at a glance. By double-clicking an interested corporation, all the statistical information of this corporation which is stored in Oracle database can be obtained. In this system, the spatial information and pure statistical data combined efficiently.

Diversified spatial representation of statistical information

The GIS spatial concept is introduced into inputting and outputting of statistical query, so that the spatial location of statistical information obtained is clearer, the abstract statistical information is concrete with the spatial location. The spatial data and statistical data are associated closely in order to map the statistical data and make it visible.

Powerful statistical information query function

The system can summary any index of value type according to certain classification index of corporation or industrial unit. Besides, the filter condition can be set to the specified classified summary frame to perform classified summary query based on filter conditions.

Component statistical information query

The list A and list B in the statistical table can be set as you wish, and the troublesome table head adding process is simplified to the classification of statistical components. The user only need to add the class to related list A or list B, the class field it belongs to will be added to table head automatically. The query and summary can be performed from statistical base database according to designed statistical table. The census database and corporation database can be well managed in geographic information database. The query result can be displayed with statistical thematic map.

Result

The system combines spatial data with social, economic, scientific and technological, census, corporation and other massive data, implements the integration of different field, different time period, different data processing platform, different data structure, and by using multiple data searching and exploring engine, the intermediate database can be built automatically. The metadata can be loaded to database with the report output data structure no changed. Besides, the system security level can be set on single index, and the authority controlled can be customized. This system has been appraised by experts from China Academy of Science, Lanzhou University, and National Bureau of Statistics etc., and was recognized as the advanced GIS system to be promoted nationalwidely.
