On Nov. 16, The Census Center of National Bureau of Statistics of China held the seminar "Nationwide Society Economy Statistic Geographic Information System and Unit Name List Library Management System" in Lanzhou, China. The vice-director of The Census Center of National Bureau of Statistics of China Yang Kuankuan, the director general of Gansu Province Statistic Bureau Zhu Wenxin, the president and the vice-president of SuperMap GIS Technologies, Inc. Zhong Ershun and Song Guanfu attended this conference. Persons in charge from The Census Center and Computer Center of National Bureau of Statistics and the representatives from other eight provinces also attended this conference.
SuperMap GIS Technologies, Inc. and The Census Center of National Statistic Bureau cooperate to develop nationwide society economic statistic geographic information system, to design the system, to ascertain the system basic frame, to establish related standards, and to build demonstration system, therefore, apply GIS in related fields. It takes about four months for the vice general manager Chen Yanping and other engineers of SupaerMap Company as well as some coworkers from Gansu Statistic Bureau to fulfill this system design and main program`s development.
In the conference, engineer Li Zhongdong of Information Center of Gansu Province Statistic Bureau introduced the design of "Gansu Society Economic Geographic Information System " at length and demonstrated the system specially. Dr. Chen Yanping introduced the experiences of using SuperMap III to develop. Attendees feel great interests in this system, and they all believe that geographic information system expands statistic data`s application, and it has wide application future in statistic industry.
