SuperMap Showcases at Johor Smart City Forum 2025, Discussing New Future of Digital Governance

26 Sep,2025

The three-day Johor Smart City Forum 2025 was recently held in Johor Bahru, Johor State, Malaysia. Officially invited by the forum's organizing committee, SuperMap Software participated in and delivered a presentation at one of the three main forums – the "International Smart City Leadership Forum". Dr. Guo Bo, Chief Scientist of SuperMap's International Region, engaged in discussions on the theme "Digital Innovation for Good Governance: Leading Towards Smarter, More Transparent Cities" with Mr. Ching Tuan Yee, Director of the Singapore Urban Redevelopment Authority, and Ts. Anusha Magendram, Vice President & Chief Analyst of the Malaysia Government-Industry High-Tech Group.

The three speakers unanimously agreed that as urban governance increasingly relies on data and digital platforms, governance models must transcend traditional administrative management and shift towards a new paradigm that places greater emphasis on accountability, transparency, and citizen participation. Dr. Guo Bo stated that Geographic Information Systems play a key role in breaking down data barriers and operational silos, optimizing business processes, and improving efficiency and compliance transparency. By integrating massive information – such as population, traffic, environment, and public facilities – onto a unified geographic platform, government managers can gain intuitive insights into urban operations, achieve efficient cross-departmental collaboration, and consequently provide more citizen-centric services, thereby enhancing public trust.

With its unique geographical advantage of bordering Singapore and the development opportunities presented by the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, Johor State has a growing demand for smart city construction. From land and resource planning to disaster emergency response, SuperMap is committed to providing technical support for smart city development in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia with spatial intelligence, helping to build an agile and sustainable smart governance ecosystem.
