On 8th, September, Chinese Geo-information Conference 2017 was held in Guiyang. At the conference, Xu Guanhua, former minister of Ministry of technology, Chinese academician made the presentation ‘Innovation Driving: A necessary path for Chinese GIS development’. He pointed out that GIS is the supporting software for informatization construction. In the recent years, Chinses software keeps innovating, not only having features in cloud GIS and big data GIS, but also in 3D GIS and cross-platform.
Kurexi, Vice minister of Ministry of Land Resource, Minister of National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation, stated in his presentation all the industries are encouraged to advance the development of GIS sharing application, improving core competing ability, bringing wisdom and power for GIS industry.
Song Zhichao, vice minister of National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation stated that enterprises, stated that GIS enterprises need to keep innovating, optimizing GIS structure, upgrading GIS+ service modes. Chinese GIS industry is developing with 5 major features, which are bigger volume industry, industry optimizing, capital collating, technology improving, and larger service area.
According to the statistics and big data analysis of China Association for Geographic Information Society, the Chinese GIS industry is estimated to reach 518 billion Yuan with growth rate of 18.8%. Up to the end of August of 2017, the number of mapping organizations is 18,131, with 4.9% growth rate comparing with the end of 2016. 460,000 practitioners in the mapping organizations, with 400,000 technical staff. The percentage of professional technical staff rose from 66% (2012) to 85% (2017).
The conference also awarded Top 100 Chinese Enterprises in Geographic Information industry, Most Dynamic Chinese SMEs in Geographic Information Industry, High-growth Enterprise Top 50, SuperMap was listed No.5 of Top 100 Chinese Enterprises in Geographic Information industry and won 6 gold, 15 silver, 4 bronze awards. 5 projects won the second prize of GIS Excellence Awards.
The conference also set the Chinese GIS industry exhibition. SuperMap engineers introduced the technological development in big data GIS, 3D GIS, cloud & terminal GIS, cross-platform GIS of SuperMap 9D.
At the high-end forum. Li Shaojun, Dean of SuperMap Institute, senior vice president of SuperMap Group introduced the innovation technology in big data visualization of SuperMap.
