Winning of National Postal Service Project with SuperMap GIS

Tokyo, Japan - SuperMap, the Asian leader and provider of GIS platform software, congratulates the Japanese Company Toshiba on winning the National Postal Service Project of Japan with the technology from SuperMap GIS. It is a success of joint efforts of Toshiba and SuperMap.


The objective of the national postal service project is to deliver a GIS/Location Based supporting system for the effective management of massive nation-wide postal distribution and delivery. It is a key component of the IT infrastructure of Japan eGovernment on the postal management.


The main system will be developed with SuperMap Objects, and it will be brought into service nation wide in spring 2009 with over ten thousand sets of terminals deployed. The system will at the same time adopt handheld device for mail carriers with eSuperMap.


Since its first entry into Japanese market, SuperMap GIS has been widely used in Japan`s railway, transportation, communication, emergency management, public securities, eGovernment, environment, as well as some new application areas such as banking, real estate and business analysis etc. The success of the joint bid by SuperMap and Toshiba for the postal service will be another major application for a large national GIS project in Japan, and SuperMap is again proven to be able to provide its technologies and experiences to the international market.
