With the theme of “GIS---Sharing the Open World”, the launching ceremony of 2007’ SuperMap International GIS Contest (SuperMap IGC) was held in Beijing Normal University on March 31st.It is initiated by the Chinese GIS Association (CGA), the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGSNRR of CAS), Beijing Normal University (BNU) and sponsored by SuperMap GIS Technologies, Inc.(SuperMap). This contest, also known as the National GIS Contest in China has been successfully conducted for four years since 2003. It has become a great event among Chinese college GIS students and hundreds of students have participated in it. This is the first time it opens internationally and participants from all over the world can compete and learn together.
With the idea of "inspiring your ideas, realizing your dreams and sharing your experiences", SuperMap IGC provides all the participants from all over the world an open stage practising GIS mapping and developing with the newest GIS technology. Through participating in this contest, participants can get free licensed GIS software from SuperMap and realizing your own GIS works.
