SuperMap FieldMapper

Mobile GIS has become a trend of GIS development. It can be used for military, surveying and mapping, medical care, automobile navigation, and etc. Recently GPS vendors have built various devices integrated with GPS and PDA functionalities for collecting/processing high precision spatial data. For example, MobileMapper CE of Magellan has the post-processing accuracy of 30 millimeters. These devices are widely used for professional data collection in many industries (such as surveying and mapping, land use, and electric power). SuperMap provides professional field data collection software-SuperMap FieldMapper. This product can meet the professional needs and the variant requirements for industries perfectly.

Technical Features

◆ SuperMap FieldMapper is a professional field data acquisition software integrated with GPS. It can be used for power line patrolling, land resource survey, aerial survey, urban management, and etc.

◆ FieldMapper is an easy-to-use system with user-friendly interface. Considering the size of PDA screen, the system arranges the toolbars reasonably for the maximum extent.

◆ Multiple manners for high efficienct data organization. PMR is designed by SuperMap for mobile data collection. It is used to access massive data and display map. PM2 is an optimized data format defined for supporting data editing. High efficienct data organization can be achieved by combining PM2 and PMR.

◆ Support for multiple formats when importing and exporting data. The supported data formats are SDB, DXF, MIF, SHP, and so on.

◆ Support for symbol customization. FieldMapper provides powerful symbol customization tools, with which the user can save the customized marker, line, and fill symbols to a parameter file for future use.

◆ Customizable applications for different industries. FieldMapper supports customizing collection parameters. The user can define desired map layer, attribute field information, entities, and etc. When collecting pre-defined entities, the user does not need to create new map layer, set field information, or choose symbols for entities. This will greatly reduce workload and promise the standardization of data collection.

◆ Be able to collect and update multimedia attribute data, e.g. voice and picture. The user can associate the multimedia data with entities. When clicking on an entity, the corresponding tool will be launched to present the multimedia files.

◆ Support for high resolution image data. The high resolution remote sensing images are supported within PMR and PM2. The SIT (SuperMap Image Tower) technology provides rapid display of GB level image data on PDA.

◆ Unique Value thematic map. FieldMapper provides unique value thematic map functions for the user to set various styles for entities on a specific layer.

◆ Post-processed differential GPS. Real-time differential GPS can achieve sub-meter positioning accuracy. After this processing, the precision can reach 30 millimeter.

System Requirements

◆ CPU: CPUs based on ARM architecture, including
    —Intel® (StrongARM®, XScale™)
    —Samsung
    —Texas Instruments (OMAP)
    —Atmel

  ◆ Operating System:
    Windows Mobile:
    —2003, 2003 Second Edition, 5.0

  ◆ Windows CE:
    —4.2, 5.0
     Memory: 64MB RAM

Main Functionalities

  ◆ Data Browsing:

   ○ Map browse: Zoom in/out, pan, GPS centeralizing, full screen, setting map center.

   ○ Layer management: Display the name, type, number of objects, maximum/minimum extent of the dataset, set field information and layer style.

   ○ Attribute viewing: Set field value, link picture, voice, browse and change coordinate value.
Selecting graphics: selected by a point or a dragging rectangle

   ○ Spatial measurement: distance, angle and area measurement

   ○ Advanced query

  ◆ Graphics Drawing

   ○ Simple graphics drawing: point, line, area and text.

   ○ Entity drawing: the entity drawing can be configured by using Tools program. The advantage is that the drawn entity will be rendered with the style automatically and one layer can have multiple styles.

   ○ COGO (Coordinate Geometry): Point interpolation in polar coordinate system, angle intersection, and boundary intersection

   ○ Pause and resume functions are available during drawing.

  ◆ Graphics Editing

   ○ Delete/move

   ○ Extend/clip

   ○ Change line direction

   ○ Erase polygon

   ○ Add/delete vertices

   ○ Add vertices

  ◆ GPS

   ○ GPS settings: Set the port, baud rate of GPS, the number of coordinates when recording single point, the number of coordinates when recording inflexion, and time interval when recording points continuously.

   ○ Displaying of Ephemeris state

   ○ Recording/displaying GPS track

   ○ Compass navigation

   ○ Recording original data

  ◆ Functions on PC

   ○ Forefront map configuration

   ○ Data editing

   ○ Data conversion

   ○ Symbol customization

   ○ Professional parameter creating

   ○ SIT conversion
